HARRISBURG – In response to the governor’s annual budget address today, Rep. Aaron Kaufer (R-Luzerne) has provided the following statement explaining the further financial strain the governor’s strain would cause small businesses.

“The Governor’s plan seeks to raise the personal income tax (PIT) by 46% on our mom and pop businesses and other small businesses who have been struggling and suffered vast financial losses during these unprecedented times,” said Kaufer. “Most of these small businesses are responsible for paying PIT and this increase would do the exact opposite of assisting them as we seek to recover from the economic downturn caused by the pandemic. This proposal, if enacted, would kick our small businesses while they are already down.”
